Vectors

A vector has both magnitude and direction.
A scalar has magnitude but no direction.

VECTORS
x-component:   Ax = |A| cosθ     θ = angle with respect to +x-axis
y-component:   Ay = |A| sinθ      θ = angle with respect to +x-axis

ADDING VECTORS (FINDING THE RESULTANT VECTOR)
1. Split vectors into components.
2. Add the x-components and add the y-components separately.
3. Combine the x- and y-components using the pythagorean theorem to calculate the magnitude of the resultant vector.
4. Use the inverse tangent to determine the direction (angle) of the resultant vector.
